But when the jeans leave our hands, there are also little things you can do to help your denim go a long way.

So read on to extend your jeans’ lifespan with these care tips!

How to wash your jeans

The first thing you want to do is turn your jeans inside out. Turning your jeans inside out prevents the denim from coming into direct contact with detergent which can cause fading. Next, you’ll also want to make sure that the zipper is closed so as to maintain shape.

Now that you’ve prepped the denim, it’s time to prep the machine. Set the water temperature to cold to protect the fabric from shrinking and colour from fading. Finally, choose a delicate or gentle cycle to avoid putting the denim through too much.

How often you should wash your jeans

With time, your jeans will have lines and creases that give your denim real character. Well, that distinctive look is what happens when you wear your jeans without overwashing them. Our thumb rule is: wash your denim after ten wears. And in between if there are small stains, just grab a damp cloth or an old toothbrush and some mild soap to get rid of them.

How to dry your jeans

The only thing you need to know when it comes to drying denim is that dryers are a no-go. They cause denim to break down into the lint you find clinging to your jeans at the end. So instead, just hang your jeans and let them air dry. Not only does this preserve the denim, but it also prevents shrinkage. And before you hang them, make sure your jeans are inside out and find a shady spot if you can to prevent fading.

Well, there you have it. An effortless denim care routine that you can use on men’s jeans, women’s jeans, and basically all kinds of jeans. A few simple steps for you, a giant leap for your denim’s lifespan.
